Unleash your EMDR – Release the Magic. Practical Advanced Skills for Working with Attachment with Mark Brayne. Monday 28th January 2019 9-4.30pm
Aims: To explore the transpersonal dimensions of EMDR, including what many practitioners experience as the magic of change so often witnessed in Phase Four of the Standard Procedural Steps. Subjects explored, will include dreams, intergenerational transmission of trauma, the stages of alchemical change (cf CJ Jung), and the role of creative imagination, intuition and archetypes.
Learning Outcomes: Following an introduction to the basic principles of the transpersonal approach to EMDR, participants will be introduced to the central place in relational EMDR of metaphor, imagination, narrative, dreams and meaning. They will be encouraged to see EMDR’s Standard Procedural Steps as an essential framework within and beyond which they can meet their clients’ developmental needs with intuition and compassion.
Teaching Methodology / Format: Didactic and experiential skill development
Target Audience: EMDR practitioners and people in training in NHS, private, military and other services.
How will this event develop EMDR practice? This workshop is designed to help practitioners look at their role as EMDR therapists in the larger context of relational and intuitive “dance”, within and beyond the Standard Protocol, helping equip them to see EMDR as more than a protocol-driven technique, but also unique to each client relationship.
Mark Brayne is known in the EMDR UK field for his passion for Laurel Parnell’s way of working with attachment, and as accredited EMDR Europe Consultant and Parnell Institute training facilitator he brings to his work a rich transpersonal perspective also, incorporating archetypes, creativity, imagination and a focus on the transgenerational transmission of trauma.
Mark will take us/trainees through the basics of the Parnellian Attachment-Focused approach to EMDR, with a live demonstration (volunteers, anyone?) of this work in action and opportunities to practise some of AF-EMDR’s essential tools.
The workshop has previously been accorded 6 EMDR Association UK CPD points, and for more information about Mark’s approach, see his psychotherapy website www.braynework.com and his EMDR-therapist-focused site www.emdrfocus.com.
Cost £70. Final date for booking Friday 4th January 2019 (unless capacity is reached beforehand)
We have just donated £1,100 to Trauma Aid UK.
This means that since we started 4 years ago we have donated a total of £4,800 to local, national and international charities. This includes £3436 to Trauma Aid.
We have had many requests for refunds. Like all study day organisers (and most private therapists) we cannot provide refunds to anyone who cancels with less than 48 hours notice. This is because we have to pay for room hire, speakers fees and catering which have all been set up to reflect the number of people booked to attend. We keep our prices low so we do not have a lot of slippage and any there is gets donated to Trauma Aid UK or similar charities. We ask for your understanding with this.
Just to make people aware Robin Logie is offering EMDR training in plymouth - Plymouth Part 1: 9th – 11th January 2019 Part 2: 2nd & 3rd May 2019 Part 3: 12th & 13th September 2019. Further details can be found on his website http://www.emdrtrainingrobinlogie.co.uk/training-dates/

A note on invoices

As we are not an organisation as such and do not have our own bank account we cannot invoice (we have tried in the past and been rejected due to the requirements of the paying organisation).

Details of how to pay are on the booking form.  The booking form can be found by scrolling down to the relevant post.

Marcia has offered to send receipts in advance of payment so people can claim back if that is helpful.

Please bear in mind that we are doing our best to bring good quality and affordable courses and workshops to the area and any profit goes to charity.  We are not an organisations and therefore have none of the related systems or resources.

Please can you encourage your organisations to be flexible or alternatively you will need to pay and then claim back or make use of the offer of a receipt in advance.

Thank you

Rachel
EMDR south west have just donated £400 to Trauma aid. We have now donated £3,700 to local, national and international charities since we started just over 3 years ago.
Dear Marcia
Please pass on our thanks to all in emdr south west region for their continued support of our work.
Regional groups play a huge part in supporting our work and we are planning to include them more.
If it is appropriate, we would welcome it if you could encourage any of your group who are not already  members of Trauma Aid UK to join.   We want to get our  message out to as many as possible in our EMDR community.
With sincere thanks for your donation.

Notice.  We are now aware that there is a level one child training running in Bristol in April.  The situation for the child training is that we need a minimum number of people to proceed.  We need about four more people for this to be the case. We are therefore bringing the closing date for bookings and payments forward to 6th April.  This will mean that if we do not get sufficient numbers to run the course people will still have the option to attend in Bristol.  We would be really grateful if you are considering attending if you can book and pay as soon as possible.  If we get over the minimum numbers any profit will be donated to Trauma Aid UK.  Please note that the price for the event includes lunch on both days.
