Unleash your EMDR – Release the Magic. Practical Advanced Skills for Working with Attachment with Mark Brayne. Monday 28th January 2019 9-4.30pm
Aims: To explore the transpersonal dimensions of EMDR, including what many practitioners experience as the magic of change so often witnessed in Phase Four of the Standard Procedural Steps. Subjects explored, will include dreams, intergenerational transmission of trauma, the stages of alchemical change (cf CJ Jung), and the role of creative imagination, intuition and archetypes.
Learning Outcomes: Following an introduction to the basic principles of the transpersonal approach to EMDR, participants will be introduced to the central place in relational EMDR of metaphor, imagination, narrative, dreams and meaning. They will be encouraged to see EMDR’s Standard Procedural Steps as an essential framework within and beyond which they can meet their clients’ developmental needs with intuition and compassion.
Teaching Methodology / Format: Didactic and experiential skill development
Target Audience: EMDR practitioners and people in training in NHS, private, military and other services.
How will this event develop EMDR practice? This workshop is designed to help practitioners look at their role as EMDR therapists in the larger context of relational and intuitive “dance”, within and beyond the Standard Protocol, helping equip them to see EMDR as more than a protocol-driven technique, but also unique to each client relationship.
Mark Brayne is known in the EMDR UK field for his passion for Laurel Parnell’s way of working with attachment, and as accredited EMDR Europe Consultant and Parnell Institute training facilitator he brings to his work a rich transpersonal perspective also, incorporating archetypes, creativity, imagination and a focus on the transgenerational transmission of trauma.
Mark will take us/trainees through the basics of the Parnellian Attachment-Focused approach to EMDR, with a live demonstration (volunteers, anyone?) of this work in action and opportunities to practise some of AF-EMDR’s essential tools.
The workshop has previously been accorded 6 EMDR Association UK CPD points, and for more information about Mark’s approach, see his psychotherapy website www.braynework.com and his EMDR-therapist-focused site www.emdrfocus.com.
Cost £70. Final date for booking Friday 4th January 2019 (unless capacity is reached beforehand)
