Booking formWorking with the Body in EMDR Therapy A One-day Workshop
Introduction: Guided by the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) system, EMDR therapy draws on the innate adaptive drive towards healing, thus facilitating the effective processing of traumatic and other disturbing life experiences to an adaptive resolution. EMDR therapy recognises the vital role of the body in the encoding and the resolution of trauma. The focus of this workshop is on attending more explicitly to somatic dimension in case conceptualisation, treatment planning and memory processing within EMDR therapy. Learning Outcomes: Participants will learn: 1. To understand the nature and role of body memories and their implicit and embedded presence. 2. To facilitate clients to access and target body memories with EMDR Therapy 3. To facilitate clients to process and resolve body memories with EMDR Therapy 4. To facilitate clients to access self-capacities and resources and to anchor them in the body 5. To recognise, monitor and modify nervous system regulation and dysregulation in EMDR therapy. Workshop content: The workshop will include 1. Illustrated presentations of relevant material 2. Demonstrations 3. Experiential application 4. Discussion and questions
